A consultation procedure and patch test prior to the treatment is compulsory. You will be required to provide us with a medical history so that we can confirm that there are no contraindications and that you are suitable for your chosen treatment.

This is usually an informal process, but thorough. Before proceeding, you will be asked to sign a consent form; this consultation form will be sent to you upon booking.

We are dedicated, fully qualified and experienced clinicians who all have the same goal as you: to meet your desired results. We want you to help you feel confident in your skin. Our mission is to exceed your expectations.

laser & IPL hair removal FAQS

We’ve put together the answers to some of the most common questions we are asked about Laser/IPL Hair Removal.

The IPL Light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy rapidly heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.

As mentioned before both males and females can undergo IPL hair removal. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Very fair hair, however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat.

In order to determine whether or not you are suitable for IPL Laser Treatments, please do not hesitate to get in touch or
arrange a consultation to chat through.

Take note, grey and white hair contains no melanin, so we are unable to treat it with laser or IPL.

Treatment sensation varies but is often described as “a flick of an elastic band”. Typically no anaesthesia is required and most clients describe the discomfort as moderate and tolerable.

The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 – 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

As a non-invasive treatment, side effects are minimal. The skin may be slightly red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

As a non-invasive treatment, side effects are minimal.

Firstly, gel is applied and then the IPL laser device is placed on the skin, a short pulse of light is released, targeting many follicles simultaneously. Then, the applicator is moved to the neighbouring area of the skin, and the process is repeated until the entire area has been treated.

Only the hairs that are actively growing at the time will be affected, therefore multiple treatments are always needed. Treatments are conducted every 4 - 8 weeks, depending on the area treated until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments can vary, but typically 6-8 are needed for optimum results.

Consultation procedure prior to treatment is compulsory.

The consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask us any questions you may have.
