Photo-skin rejuvenation treatments

Photo-Skin Rejuvenation treatments were designed to combat all visible signs of ageing, including those that have been caused by UV light. These consequences of ageing can be anything from brown spots (pigmentation), redness that is usually in the form of thread veins to uneven skin textures, lines and wrinkles.

UV exposure is one of the most prominent attackers of the skin. Yes, it rapidly speeds up the ageing process of the skin, but it can also have an even more severe effect of skin cancer. UV rays penetrate the layers of the skin, damaging the skins cells or even eradicating them.

From breaking down the surface of the skin, it no longer keeps its form. UV radiation mainly dries out the skin, and it has a damaging effect on the amount of elastin and collagen that our skin produces too; two very vital proteins of the skin that keep it looking plump, smooth as well as help maintain its structure.

Thus, our skin begins to look drier, crease or produce an uneven skin tone that clients want to be counteracted. Our photo-rejuvenation treatments are able to refresh and replenish the skin’s surface so that it is left clear, smooth and younger-looking.

How Does the Skin Rejuvenation Work?

Our photo-skin rejuvenation treatments work by a clinician using an IPL device that precisely targets areas of the damaged skin using controlled, short pulses of light. The light energy targets discolouration (brown and red lesions) to create a more youthful, even complexion.

This is due to the light stimulating the natural production of new collagen and elastin. By causing trauma to the skin, the body begins its natural healing process, thus producing new fibroblast cells, and igniting our skin with the two most prominent rejuvenating proteins that all work to heel the wounds.

Consequently, clients are left with an improved texture of the skin, evening out of all lumps and bumps, as well as a significant reduction of the appearance of lines, wrinkles, scarring and pores.

Our Photo-rejuvenation Treatment Service Process

A mandatory consultation procedure prior to the treatment is undergone. The consultation is conducted by one of our clinicians, and you will be required to provide us with a medical history so that we can confirm that you are suitable for your chosen treatment.

A patch test is also required before any treatment. Our consultations are usually informal but thorough. Before proceeding, you will be asked to sign a consent form; this consultation form will be sent to you upon booking through our website.

We are a team of dedicated, and fully qualified and experienced clinicians who all have the same goal as you: to meet your desired results. Like you, we want you to feel confident in your skin, so we will make it our mission to exceed your expectations in doing so.

photo-skin rejuvenation FAQS

We’ve put together the answers to some of the most common questions we are asked about Photo-Skin Rejuvenation.

The answer to this question is more than likely, yes. Most people are suitable for photo-rejuvenation, but we do require all clients to attend a consultation beforehand so that we can ascertain your suitability, as well as tailor a treatment plan to ensure that we achieve your desired results.

By creating you a bespoke treatment plan, we can give you the best chances at meeting the outcome that you are envisioning, and ensure that your skin is looked after to the best of our abilities.

IPL Skin rejuvenation treatments are known to be mildly uncomfortable, so we do not administer anaesthesia pre-treatment. Most people describe the sensation as a quick pinprick and a warming feeling.

As a non-invasive treatment, IPL skin rejuvenation's side effects can be and are not limited to redness, swelling, blistering and lightening or darkening of the skin. Immediately post-treatment is when the skin is seen to be red and swollen, and then very rarely a small blister may form, as well as pigmentation. However, most people experience no side effect, and if they do, the skin reaction usually subsides within a few hours.

Again, redness and a slight warming sensation may be felt, but this is normal. A clinician will cool the skin to keep it calm. Darkening may occur on the pigmented spots on your skin, but this will then turn into micro crusts which will then flake off, leaving an even skin tone.

Tightening and firming of the skin will continue over the following months as new collagen and elastin are produced within the dermis.

Our Photo-Skin Rejuvenation treatments tend to be carried out every 2 to 3 weeks, and 6 treatments are usually recommended for optimum results. Thereafter, top-up sessions are performed when required, but typically, once or twice a year.

The process begins by the specialised light applicator being placed onto the problem area before a short pulse of light is released. The handpiece is then moved onto the neighbouring areas until the entire area is treated. During the treatment, protective eye-wear will be provided.

Photo-Rejuvenation treatments can vary in time, but typically, they take between 20-45 minutes depending on the size of the treated area.
